She Switched Hotel Rooms—But the Bedbugs Followed

Three separate lawsuits were filed in April 2025, targeting Treasure Island and Luxor, both prominent resorts on the Las Vegas Strip. The legal complaints detail disturbing experiences during summer 2024 stays.

One guest, Teresa Bruce, stayed at Treasure Island on June 21. According to her complaint, she noticed bug bites on her body and requested a room change. However, the situation worsened—she woke up with even more bites in the new room. Bruce alleges that the hotel’s risk management team later confirmed both rooms were infested with bedbugs. The complaint states that Bruce was “harmed and offended” and suffered physical injuries as a result.

Severe Reactions at the Luxor: Couple Hospitalized

Another case involves Stephen and Courtney Gully, who stayed at the Luxor Hotel on June 8. The couple noticed bite marks that became red, swollen, and increasingly itchy. Courtney Gully’s symptoms escalated so severely that she felt her throat closing, prompting a hospital visit by ambulance.

The Gullys also claim they had to dispose of nearly all their personal belongings due to the extent of the infestation.

‘Massacred by Bedbugs’: July Incident at Luxor Sparks Further Complaint

On July 16, Brianna McKenzie also stayed at the Luxor and later filed her own lawsuit. She reported being “massacred by bedbugs,” citing physical injuries, emotional distress, and other damages. A photograph of a bedbug allegedly found in her hotel room was shared as part of the complaint.

Attorney Calls for Hotel Accountability

All plaintiffs are represented by Brian Virag, founder of My Bed Bug Lawyer. Virag stated the lawsuits aim to not only seek justice for his clients but to raise awareness about the growing bedbug issue in Las Vegas hospitality.

“We’ve filed these cases because our clients were exposed to bedbugs and suffered real injuries and damages,” Virag told Fox News Digital. “This is a serious and preventable problem.”

He emphasized the importance of training housekeeping staff to properly identify and address bedbug infestations and urged hotels to maintain strict pest control protocols.

Emotional Toll and Medical Visits Common Among Victims

Virag noted that the emotional impact on clients is “super significant,” with some experiencing lasting trauma. He also reported emergency room visits, scarring, and severe itchiness among the physical symptoms.

“Guests often don’t realize right away that bites could be from bedbugs,” Virag added. “It’s crucial to inspect your surroundings and document everything.”

Hotels Yet to Respond

As of now, neither Treasure Island nor Luxor has responded publicly to the lawsuits. Virag said he expects formal responses from the hotels in the near future.
